SNOWMAN GLYPH~
Today we met with our second grade buddies to do snowman glyphs. Our finished glyphs will soon be hanging on the bulletin board outside our classroom along with the key to "reading" the glyphs. Scroll down to the next section of the Blog for a slide show of our work with buddies today!
MATH DRAWERS (MATH ADDITION ACTIVITY)~
Today Mrs. "B" introduced and explained a new activity that we are adding to our Math Magic Station. In the photo below are drawers which contain items for the children to use when adding objects for this activity.
Once a child has chosen which objects he/she would like to use, the tray in the photo below is retrieved from the Math Magic shelf.
Children choose a flash card with an addition activity. Using the numbers on the card, the child puts the corresponding number of objects in the containers on each side of the + sign.
Next, the child records the numbers on a sheet.
The child then dumps all of the items into the = box and counts them to determine the answer to the addition problem.
Finally, the child records the answer on the sheet!
