 STAR OF THE WEEK~ADRIANNA

Today we learned more about our friend, Adrianna.  Adrianna's favorite color is pink; her favorite dessert is brownies; and her favorite restaurant is the Olive Garden.  Thank you for telling us about your favorite things and sharing your photos with us, Adrianna!

Today we read this story, which was perfect for Halloween!  After reading the story, we acted it out!
Mary, Jack, and Adrianna were the shoes that went "clomp, clomp".
M.J., Sophie, and Jake were the pair of pants that went, "wiggle, wiggle".
Owen, Sasha, and Caroline were the shirt that went "shake, shake".
Anna, Alek, and Nathan were the white gloves that went, "clap, clap".

Seth was the tall black hat that went, "nod, nod".
Kaitlin, Mia, Gavin, and Cooper were the scary pumpkin head that said, "BOO!  BOO!".

 FREE CHOICE~
These children worked together to match 100 number tiles to the 100 board!

 IS A SPIDER AN INSECT?
Since a spider is a character in this week's nursery rhyme, we learned more about what creatures are or are not insects.  First we read a book about insects and then played a game sorting creatures into those that are insects and those that are not insects.  Be sure to ask your child if a spider is an insect!

 HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
Today we helped Mary celebrate her birthday!  Mary's mom read us the books, My Garden and Ladybug Girl.  After the stories, we enjoyed eating Mary's birthday snack....pumpkin and ghost sugar cookies--YUMMY!!  Happy Birthday, Mary!

 WHAT ARE YOU SCARED OF?
Today we read the story, I'm Not Scared".  We then sat in a circle and everyone had a turn to share with the class something that he/she is afraid of.    As we shared one of our fears, we built a web using yarn.
Here is our "web of fears".

We decided to "throw away our fears"!

We made our first entry today in our Pre-K Journals!  Children drew a picture of their experience at the campfire last week and then dictated to the teacher about their experience.  We will make other entries in our journal throughout the school year.
 NURSERY RHYME~
"Little Miss Muffet" is the nursery rhyme we introduced today.  We discussed some new vocabulary from the nursery rhyme, including definitions/descriptions for tuffet and curds and whey.  The children thoroughly enjoyed acting out this nursery rhyme with props!
