Today we celebrated our 10th day of school and our first "Zero the Hero" day! During our calendar activities, we added another straw to our pockets, making 10 straws total. We took the 10 straws and.......
...put a rubber band around them to make a bundle or group of 10 straws.
This is what our pockets look like now. We have 1 group of ten straws and 0 single straws, which makes a total of 10 straws. Since there were no straws to put in the singles pocket, Zero the Hero goes in this pocket for today.
We have a special "Zero the Hero" song that we sing.
Owen's mom came to in to school to help us celebrate our first "Zero the Hero" day. We made bagel bird feeders!
First, we spread Crisco onto a bagel (which is the shape of a zero).
The bird seed sticks! A string was tied to the bagel so we could hang up our bird feeder at home.
