Outdoor Week-Mondy - slideshow with music

OUTDOOR WEEK~

 Today we spent our entire Free Choice time outside!  The activities included:  eating snack; looking at books in a small tent; building with cardboard panels; playing soccer; riding bikes and scooters; playing in the sandbox; drawing/writing with chalk; etc. 

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, GAVIN! 

Today we helped Gavin celebrate his May birthday.  Gavin's dad read a rocket story and his mom read the story, There's A Wocket In My Pocket.  Gavin's sister, Emily, joined us for the celebration.  For Gavin's birthday snack, we ate cinnamon mini coffee cakes which were a big hit!

 

KINDERGARTEN VISITATION~

Today the Pre-K children met the Kindergarten teachers and toured the Kindergarten classrooms.

PJ Day - make slideshow
PAJAMA DAY!

What could be more fun than spending the day at school in your pajamas?!  The children thought it was funny to go to P.E. class dressed in their PJ's!  Too bad we can't wear pajamas to school every day!

ZERO THE HERO DAY!

Today we celebrated our 160th day of school!  Kaitlin's mom helped us make tambourines!  Thank you for a great activity!

Today we helped Kaitlin celebrate her birthday!  Kaitlin's mom read The Lorax while the children ate popsicles!

VENN DIAGRAM~

Today we compared the differences and similarities between moths and butterflies using a Venn diagram.  Using cards with characteristics of moths and butterflies, children decided where to put the cards on the diagram.

THURSDAY MAY 17th

As we mentioned in a recent e-mail, Pre-K children should come to school dressed in their pajamas this Thursday.  Children should wear regular shoes to school but can change into slippers once they are here at school if they would like.  We will enjoy donuts for a special snack on this day!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, CHRISTINA!

Today we helped Christina celebrate her July birthday a little early!  Christina's mom read the story, Shoe-La-La and then we enjoyed eating star popsicles!  Boy did we have some red lips from those popsicles!

 

FROM CATERPILLAR TO CHRYSALIS~

 Look what happened to our caterpillars!  Guess where they are?!

Today Ms. King (Director of Special Programs at Academy) visited our classroom with some wonderful visual aids and her extensive knowledge about caterpillars, butterflies, and moths.  Be sure to ask your child what he/she learned today!

BUTTERFLIES AND MOTHS~

Today we learned about the similarities and differences between moths and butterflies.  Here are some things we learned.....

~Butterflies fly during the day and Moths fly at night.

~Butterflies form inside of a chrysalis and Moths form inside of a cocoon.

~The wings of a butterfly are usually bright while the wings of the moth are usually dull.

~When at rest, butterflies rest with their wings behind them, while moths rest with their wings by their side.

~The antennae on the moth and the butterfly are different.

~The body of a butterfly is thin, while the body of the moth is wide.
