For "P" week, there are popcorn kernels in the sensory tub. Hidden in the popcorn kernels are the the letters "p" and "o". Children use the letters to spell the word "pop".
In the photo below, a child has sorted objects into those that begin with /A/ and those that begin with /M/.
Sasha enjoys constructing with the pipe pieces.
Kaitlin matches the numbers from 1 through 20.
Caroline and Sophie counting pumpkins on the 100 chart. They were also creating a pattern as they counted them.
Nathan signing Gavin's cast.
Adrianna putting pennies in the purple piggy bank.
The child in the photo below is doing a punching activity, where she punches the outline of the shape with a thumbtack. This is a great fine motor activity.

10-17-11
We finally got our word wall! The word wall is part of our Writing Station. The words we put on the word wall will include passwords, classmates' names, sight words, etc. The words are attached to the word wall with a magnet. This way, children can take the words off of the word wall to use and then return them when finished.
FREE CHOICE~
Rainbow Words
We introduced this activity at the Writing Station today. Inside the pages of this book are the 5 passwords we have had so far. Children use a minimum of 4 colors to trace over the letters of the words, saying each letter and then the word as they trace them.
Seth and Theo fill up the 100 number board with the number tiles. Way to go!
NURSERY RHYME~
Here is the nursery rhyme we are doing this week...
Child rolls the die and puts the corresponding number of scarecrows in the first bowl and marks his/her recording sheet with a number sticker.
Child rolls the die a second time and puts the corresponding number of pumpkins into the second bowl and marks his/her recording sheet with a sticker.
Finally, child dumps the scarecrows and the pumpkins into a 3rd bowl to find out how much the objects equal when added together. He/She then marks his/her recording sheet with a sticker.
